1976 Greco JB-500 Jazz Bass (MIJ)
Made by Matsumoku Group in 1976, this Greco JB-500 was completed right at the tail end of MMIG's transition into Fujigen production and represents the finest of the pre-Fujigen era! The quality really shows on this beautiful instrument, the neck is one of the most comfortable I've ever laid hands on, the action is super slick and the bass feels solid as a rock. It has a huge Jazz bass sound and is dripping in 70s vintage styling and appointments. The 3 colour sunburst nitrocellulose finish has aged perfectectly and get a load of that massive chrome Greco ashtray cover. These are seldom left on the original instrument and are incredibly rare appointments.
This bass has been professionally set up with 45100s and a full service, the frets are low profile but have loads of life left in them and make for a very comfortable and low action. The paint has a few chips and dings in it but nothing you wouldn't expect from an almost 50 year old instrument. This bass features it's original pickups, however we've upgraded the pots to smooth Alpha 250ks and installed a Switchcraft USA jack socket to keep things rock solid.
