Yamaha DX7 II-FD
The Yamaha DX7, arguably one of the most famous FM synthesizers in history and used by the likes of Talking Heads, Kraftwerk, Underworld and Phil Collins, got a significant update in 1987 with the release of the DX7 II-FD. Updates included a restyled and stronger chassis, physical plastic buttons, upgrade from 12-bit to 16-bit operation as well as an increased patch memory (32 voices to 64) and the addition of bi-trimbality. This allowed the keyboard to be split and layered, providing a rich combination of sounds that could never be achieved on the DX7. Among other features, the DX7 II-FD had pitch bend, multiple LFOs, micro-tuning and aftertouch capability. The FD also added expandable memory in the form of a floppy drive (hence, FD) for thousands of voices, fractional scaling, SysEx data and more.
This particular unit is in immaculate condition - It's been extremely well maintained, with all keys having a nice springy action and a great response. The unit has been dismantled and serviced, with all contacts, switches and sockets being cleaned. This unit also has the rare ROM Data Cartridge which opens up the sonic pallete even more. Please note this unit is 100V AC.
