1975 Gibson G-3 Grabber Bass (OHSC + Candy)
An absolutely legendary bass up there with the greats, the Gibson Grabber (and it's sibling the Ripper) was designed by Bruce Bolen and Edward Klein in the early 70s and features pickups designed by esteemed pickup engineer Bill Lawrence. This one is in sublime condition and is all original, as well as featuring the uber rare transparent moulded triple set of Bill Lawrence pickups.
Although single coils, the "neck" and "bridge" switching options allow for humbucking signal flow (two pickups active and hum cancelling), and in the middle position all 3 pickups are active, earning these pickups the moniker "buck and a half". It's safe to say this bass sounds unreal. All 3 positions give a throaty, growly tone which has massive attack transients and immense low end. The wiring is original and untouched and everything is in great condition. The bass is missing it's first fret pearloid inlay, however we've left this as-is and can be repaired/replaced if needed.
Alder body with a satin finish, the bass is a perfect weight at 3.8kg and feels very balanced and nimble in the hands. The frets are original and although low, the bass has a nice action and perfect intonation. Just setup with 45-100s, this is a dream for any Gibson bass fan wanting an iconic, all original bass. Comes with it's original hard shell case, some vintage manuscript paper from the original owner and a vintage Gibson branded pick!
