Tokai Hard Puncher PJ-55 Precision Bass Gold Hardware
Made by Tokai Gakki in the early 1980s, the Hard Puncher series was Tokai's line of high quality bass reissues, one-offs and standard models. Some, like the PJ-55, were offered with custom appointments such as matching headstocks and custom hardware. This PJ-55 sports an all candy apple red finish (yes, even right up to the fingerboard) and will certainly stand out in any crowd. The finish has a beautiful sparkle to it and is accented nicely by the all gold hardware all the way down to the pickup mounting screws. The pickups certainly live up the name packing a serious punch, with the split coil pickup having a particularly overwound, driving tone. The candy apple neck is particularly comfy to play without feeling overly chunky.
All original apart from a newly installed 250k volume pot and a period-correct gold control knob, there are some scratches and dents present on the rear of the body but nothing you wouldn't expect from a 40 year old instrument. This thing is ready to punch some lights out with a fresh set of 45-100s and a full setup. Comes with it's original gig bag with a plush red interior lining.
