Yamaha SA-50 Hollow Body 1969 Transparent Green
A super cool and quirky guitar from the masterminds of late '60s Yamaha, the SA-50 is a Gibson ES-335 style guitar featuring a fully hollow body, carved maple top, back and sides, feedback busting F-holes and hum-cancelling single coils which were quite the innovation at the time. The attention to detail on this little jazz machine is something special, the inlay and binding work is extremely intricate and the body and headstock shape are very unique in their own right. The tone of the pickups is somewhere inbetween single coil and humbucker with a rich top end and clear bass frequencies without being too boomy.
This guitar was certainly well loved throughout it's long life span. There is some pretty heavy playwear on the neck and a fair share of dings and scratches on the backside however it's all very honest and the guitar has suffered no structural breaks or cracks in it's life. A professional refret ensures in for another few decades as well as a few changed screws and a new Switchcraft jack socket. Other than that she's all original. Comes with it's original blue velvet case (missing handle).
