1980 Yamaha Super Rock n' Roller SR400 Stratocaster
Looking more like a beautifully crafted piece of 70s furniture you might find in your grandma's living room than a rock and roll machine, don't be fooled by this big ol' slab of highly figured ash and maple! It's Yamaha Japan's take on the mighty Stratocaster and this particular one was birthed in Matsumoku in 1980. Sporting some of the most heavily figured ash we've ever seen (from a time when they used to let trees actually grow to maturity and therefore showcase this level of grain), if you're a fan of natural finished Strats this is about as good as it gets. 3 oversized Alnico pole piece pickups, figured maple neck and a factory 3-way switch are just a few cool appointments of this bad boy.
Freshly setup with 10-46s, this guitar is in really spectacular condition for its age. The maple neck is on the chunkier side whilst the frets are on the smaller side, however this does not have an adverse affect on the playability and is merely a feature of these older guitars. Has a new set of Alpha pots and knobs to keep your signal strong. The original pickups have a nice strong output and the guitar feels very solid and comfortable to play.
